“Wealthy” and “Retirees”. Wow – that’s almost a contradiction in terms these days.

There are so many more people retiring today than there were 20 years ago, but how many of them can now afford to keep up their “working income” lifestyle?

And all this is made even worse by the fact that people are living a lot longer than they used to. So, you stop working, but instead of spending a few years winding down till you eventually pass on, you carry on living for years and years. Well, that’s great from the viewpoint of “staying alive”, of course. But is our quality of life anywhere near as good as it was when we had a regular working income?

The answer, all too often, is a resounding “NO”.

So, if you are one of the few who has more than enough money in retirement to do everything you want to do, well done. You have organized your life very well indeed. For the rest of us, however, we suffer an embarrassing drop in income when we retire. And that’s not OK.

The purpose of this site is to look at some viable solutions to this problem. It’s actually a dilemma: YES, you need more income to enjoy life as a retiree, but NO, you don’t want to go back to working full time. So, what’s the delicate balance here?
